BJP slams BJD on removal of Amit Shah’s hoardings, waylays BMC vehicles

BJP lashes out at BJD for removing Amit Shah’s hoardings, waylays BMC vehicles Bhubaneswar: The state unit of BJP on Wednesday came down heavily on the ruling BJD for removing party flags and hoardings of national party president Amit Shah from near Kalinga Stadium and no-hoarding zones.

Some saffron workers had a scuffle with officials of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) while the latter were removing the hoardings of BJP and its party chief ahead of the inaugural ceremony of the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship scheduled to be held at 6PM today. Later, they forcibly waylaid four BMC vehicles carrying the posters and flags to the party office.

The protesters alleged that BMC removed the hoardings without any notification following the directive of BJD, which is jealous of the public support for BJP.

“It is very unfortunate that BMC officials removed the hoardings of BJP national president Amit Shah while he is in the city. The hoardings, which were there for two days, were removed under the guidance of BJD as it is jealous of the public support for BJP which is increasing in the state, especially the Capital city. They feel that Shah’s three-day tour is a headache for them,” alleged senior BJP leader Dilip Mohanty.

“If this was to be done, we could have been informed much earlier through proper notification,” he added.
