Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday named Ashrit Pattanayak as the party candidate for the upcoming Pipili bypoll.
The saffron party announced Pattanayak who had given a tough fight to late BJD leader Pradeep Kumar Mohanty in the 2019 election.
While March 30 is the last date for filling the nominations, the papers will be scrutinised on March 31. The applicants can withdraw their candidatures by April 3 and the voting on April 17. Both the counting and declaration of results will be made on May 2, 2021.
It is to be noted here that the Pipili Assembly has been lying vacant following the death of MLA Pradeep Maharathy since October 4, 2020.
