BJP member amongst two killed in car-truck accident in Odisha

Balangir: Two people were killed and three were injured after the car they were travelling in was hit by a truck on late Thursday near Sialjuri dhaba on Subarnapur road.

While one of the dead has been identified as Rashtrapati Behera from Biripali village in Bangamunda block, the other killed is Dharma Jadhav from Kantabanji. The injured have been identified as Dilip Tandi, Antarjyami Mahakud and an unidentified driver.

Reportedly, Behera was a State Executive member of BJP. With elections looming in Odisha, he was on his way to Bhubaneswar from Kantabanji when the ill-fated group met with the accident at about 12 am.

The body of Rashtrapati Behera was kept at Bolangir hospital. Meanwhile, Dharma Jadhav was declared ‘brought dead’ at Subarnapur hospital where he was being taken for treatment after being critically injured.

The other three injured are being treated at Subarnapur hospital, as per reports. The truck has been seized.
