Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Nilamani Samal from Bari in Jajpur district joined the state ruling BJD party in Naveen Niwas here today.
Samal joined the conch party along with his supporters in the presence of BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Many senior leaders and Bari MLA Debasis Nayak were also present during the joining programme of Samal, who was the BJP MLA candidate for the Bari Vidhan Sabha constituency.
Welcoming Nilamani into his party, Naveen said, “I am glad that Shri Nilamani Samal along with hundreds of his supporters from BJP joined the Biju Janata Dal today. This would strengthen the party in Bari constituency of Jajpur district. I welcome them.”
“BJP has neglected Odisha on many important issues like Mahanadi water dispute. Why should I continue in the party which doesn’t have interest for the development of my state? Therefore, I left BJP. I decided to join the BJD because I am impressed by the developmental and pro-people work of Shri Naveen Patnaik,” said Nilamani to the newsmen while speaking about his joining the state ruling party.
