BJD’s Sonam Palei, Tulasi Kirsani elected ZP chairpersons of Ganjam, Korput respectively

Berhampur/Jeypore: BJD woman leaders Sonam Palei and Tulasi Kirsani have been elected unopposed as the Chairpersons of Ganjam and Koraput Zilla Parishad today.

The election for the Zilla Parishad Chairman post was held at the District Rural Development Authority (DRDA) office in Berhampur today where Sonam remained the sole contender and was elected uncontested. The post was lying vacant since the former Chairman Subash Chandra Behera fought the recently concluded Assembly election in BJD ticket and got elected as Chhatrapur MLA.

Palei is the incumbent member of Zilla Parishad Zone-11 under Khallikote block.

Similarly, the election for the Zilla Parishad Chairperson in Koraput witnessed a similar scenario with Tulasi Kirasani having no other contender and getting elected uncontested.

In the Zilla Parishad elections in 2017, BJD had bagged 64 out of 69 ZP Zones. Out of five rest four Zones had gone to BJP and leaving just one for Congress.
