BJD’s MLA candidate Anant Narayan Jena hurt in bomb hurling

Bhubaneswar: In a poll-related violence, former Mayor and BJD candidate from Bhubaneswar-Central Assembly constituency Anant Narayan Jena sustained injuries and rushed to hospital last night after being targeted with bombs by miscreants.

As per the report, Jena was on a visit to Jharpada area when a group of three bike-borne men hurled crude bombs at his car on canal road and fled away. While the window pane of the car got damaged in the explosion of one of the bombs, three persons accompanying him also sustained injuries.

Jena was immediately rushed to Capital Hospital following the attack with head injury. However, his condition is stated to be stable now.

Laxmisagar Police later rushed to the spot and started an investigation into the attack.

Notably, BJP candidate from the same constituency Jagannath Pradhan had also been attacked with bombs in a similar fashion at Delta Colony under Nayapalli police limits in the city. He escaped the attacked with minor injuries.

BJP’s Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan along with KV Singh Deo and Aparajita Shadangi had met the Election Commission on the issue demanding strong action against the perpetrators of violence.
