Bargarh: BJD’s Bijepur block president Radheshyam Mohapatra on Saturday resigned from the post ahead of Bijepur Assembly Constituency by-election.

According to reports, Mohapatra resigned from his post alleging that the ruling party has shown negligence to its members by giving importance to Congress workers.

Former Bijepur MLA and BJD leader Ashok Panigrahi had also earlier resigned from the ruling party and joined BJP on October 2. Panigrahi had quit BJD after the ruling party announced Congress MLA Subal Sahu’s widow, Rita Sahu, as the candidate for the upcoming Bijepur by-poll.

Later, BJP district president Naranyan Sahu resigned from the saffron party on November 21 and is scheduled to join BJD.
