BJD wins by-elections of 3 civic bodies

Angul/Paradip/Kendrapara: The state ruling BJD registered victory in the by-elections of three civic bodies, the results of which were declared on Wednesday.

BJD councillor candidate Ajit Pradhan won the by-election of ward no 10 of Angul Municipality. He got 476 votes. While BJP candidate got 291 votes, Congress candidate bagged 167 votes.

Likewise, Rashmita Das of BJD won the by-poll of ward no 6 of Paradeep Municipality. She defeated the BJP candidate by 58 votes. The ward fell vacant after the untimely demise of the former councillor Manjulata.

In the by-election of ward no 17 of Pattamundai Notified Area Council (NAC) in Kendrapara district also BJD became victorious. BJD candidate Ranajit Mallick got 491 votes while Congress and BJP candidates pocketed 399 and 156 votes respectively. The by-election was conducted following the death of Councillor of the ward Chaturbhuja Mallick.

Meanwhile, BJD workers in all three places have started celebrating their achievement.
