BJD to organise mega convention for Tribals on Indigenous People’s Day

Bhubaneswar: The state ruling BJD’s Tribal wing will organise a state level convention on the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples in Bhubaneswar.

Former Sports Minister and Head of BJD’s ST Cell Sudam Marndi, while addressing a press conference here today, informed that the convention will be held at the Unit-I Adivasi Grounds.

Tribal leaders and representatives from at least nine district of Odisha are slated to participate in the convention, he added.

He further said that BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will address the tribal leaders from different parts of Odisha on the occasion.

Later, BJD’s tribal representatives will organise district level camps at nine tribal-dominated districts of Odisha.

Notably, Odisha is home to natives of 62 scheduled castes and tribes among which 13 tribes are primitive or indigenous.
