BJD supports 33% reservation of seats for women

New Delhi: Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday supported for 33% reservation of seats for women in Lok Sabha as well as in all State Assemblies. This was informed by BJD MP Pinaki Mishra.

“We have 50% reservation of seats for women in the urban civic bodies and Panchyats in Odisha and now we supported 33% reservation of seats for women. However, this can happen only if the national parties like BJP and Congress come forward,” said Mishra after attending the all-party meeting convened by the Election Commission of India here today.

The parliamentarian further informed that the conch party did not support parties opposed to the use of EVMs in voting. He also said that BJD will obey whatever decision the Election Commission takes for the upcoming election.
