BJD to skip BJP, Congress’ observances of 1st anniv of demonetizationBhubaneswar: The BJD on Monday announced to skip the observances of the first anniversary of demonetization on November 8 by the BJP and Congress.

The state ruling party said that it will neither join Congress to observe the note ban anniversary as ‘black day’ nor BJP to observe the day as ‘anti-black money’ day.

“BJD will not support the observances of first anniversary of demonetization on November 8 by both Congress and BJP,” said BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb while addressing a press conference here today.

“BJP had claimed that demonetization will end terrorism and the black money stashed abroad would return to the country. But did terrorism come down post demonetization? Did the black money stashed abroad return to India? Did corruption reduce?” questioned Deb.

The BJD leader further said that it is very unfortunate that BJP has decided to celebrate November 8, as ‘anti-black money’ day while 55 people had died due to demonetization.

Notably, the Opposition Congress has decided to observe the day as ‘black day’ while BJP has announced to observe the day as ‘anti-black money’ day.
