Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has registered a complaint against OTV over ‘paid news’ telecast and violation of model code of conduct. Members of the BJD on Saturday moved the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) against the channel for influencing voters to vote against BJD through biased news coverage.

BJD Spokesperson Sasmit Patra said ahead of the 2019 General Elections, OTV is telecasting ‘paid news’ to favour BJP and influence voters to vote against the ruling BJD in the upcoming elections.

Patra further alleged that OTV has become an ‘official mouthpiece’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has violated the model of conduct by not adhering to factual and unbiased reporting.

The BJD has also provided the CEO with necessary evidence to validate the allegations against OTV. The party has asked the CEO to take strict action against the channel for non-compliance with the prescribed model code of conduct.
