Bhubaneswar: Playing the perfect host, BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said his party was privileged to support the NDA’s presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind.
“NDA’s presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind’s journey from a small village symbolizes that anybody, irrespective of caste, clour and religion, can become the President in India and BJD feels very fortunate to have extended its support to Kovind,” said Patnaik while speaking to reporters today in the presence of the NDA presidential nominee.
Asserting that there is absolutely no chance of cross-voting by BJD lawmakers, the Chief Minister said he had advised all his party MLAs and MPs to vote for the NDA’s presidential candidate.
Naveen had invited Kovind and Union Health Minister JP Nadda, who had accompanied the former, for lunch at Naveen Nivas.
Soon after meeting the BJD legislators and MPs at the State Assembly conference hall for around one hour, both Kovind and Nadda went to the BJD superemo’s house Naveen Nivas to have lunch with him.
On the other hand, Kovind said that he was very happy to be here and grateful for the BJD’s support.
