Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of BJP on Wednesday demanded a CBI probe into BJD councilor Laxmidatta Pradhan’s murder case.
Alleging that the state police were dancing to the tune of the state government, BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma said that BJP leaders are often targeted due to the political vendetta of BJD.
They (BJD) are exerting political pressure on police for arrest of BJP leaders. Therefore, the Chhatrapur councilor’s murder case should be probed by the CBI, he added.
Reacting to Sharma’s demand, BJD spokesperson Debasis Samantray said, “Police has issued notice for questioning Golak Mohapatra. He himself has admitted that he has link with the murder accused. He had hidden the murder accused in a guest house in BJP-ruled Uttarakhand. When police has got the evidence and has summoned him for investigation, above 50 senior BJP leaders accompanied him and supported a criminal. This has unmasked the criminal background.”
“Amid this drama, the BJP leaders are trying their level best so that the case gets handed over to CBI. CBI today has turned to be Central BJP Investigation. As Amit Shah’s case is in its cold storage, the BJP here is conspiring to save Golak Mohapatra,” the BJD spokesperson ridiculed.
On the other hand, BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra appeared before Chhatrapur police for recording his statements over his alleged link with the arrested prime conspirators of Chhatrapur councilor Laxmidatta Pradhan’s murder case.
The police had yesterday served him a notice for questioning in connection with his alleged link with arrested prime conspirator and BJP leader Krushna Chandra Nayak.
As per the Call Details Record (CDR) and also the revelation of Nayak, police has pointed finger at Mohapatra for having allegedly helped Nayak and his close aide Duryodhan Reddy to abscond from Odisha to Uttarakhand. The Ganjam district police had recently nabbed the duo from Dehradun-based State guest house.
