Bhubaneswar: The state ruling BJD along with Congress party vehemently condemned the vandalism done by BJP workers at the official residence of V. Karthikeyan Pandian, the private secretary to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, here on Saturday.

Condemning the attack, BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb said, “The incident is an unfortunate one. The BJP has started physical attack even on the public servants. It depicts the mentality of top BJP leaders. The incident has revealed the motive of BJP which wants to rule the state.”

“They attacked on V. K. Pandian’s house alleging that he plays vital role in the political affair in the state. This shows that they will attack everyone once they come to the power here in the state. People of Odisha will not accept Hitler’s rule here,” he added.

He alleged that first, TV reporters of a regional channel had enquired about V. K. Pandian and later BJP workers forcefully entered into Pandian’s house. They had also named an Union Minister and MP from the state.

“Stringent action should be taken against everyone involved in the incident as per the law,” the BJD leader demanded.

Senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra also criticised the BJP supporters’ behaviour and asked the saffron party to refrain from such activities.

A group of BJP activists with party flag barged into Pandian’s residence this morning and ransacked the flower pots, damaged the vehicles parked inside the quarters. Besides, they hurled cow dungs and stones. The Commissionerate Police has so far arrested five of the law violators and has started an investigation into the matter.

Notably, Pandian was recently targeted by some politicians for allegedly intervening in BJD’s party affairs.
