Bizarre!Man Already Lodged In Jail Booked For Cash Loot In Odisha

Balasore: In a bizarre incident a man in Balasore district was allegedly booked by the police on charges of loot of cash which took place while he was lodged in jail.

The man identified as Ranjit Nayak under Soro police limits has alleged the police of arresting him for the offence in which he was not involved.

Nayak was arrested by Khaira police in January and remained in jail until August 2. However, he found himself involved in another case registered against him by Sora police.

The case registered with the Soro police pertains to snatching of cash bag from an employee of a finance company on May 23.

“How can I commit a theft while I was in the jail? I demand justice for myself and also stringent action must be initiated against the cops responsible for this,” demanded Nayak.

Meanwhile the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case has been placed under suspension. Besides an officer in the rank of Additional SP has been given the charge of investigation into the case.

This is the second such incident in the state in recent past. Earlier in November a man identified as Ramakant Nayak from Nuasahi village under Udala police limits in Mayurbhanj district has also alleged that the police had arrested him in connection with a theft case which took place while he was already lodged in jail for another offence.
