Binjharpur ASI caught red handed taking Rs 10,000 bribe

Jajpur: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday caught an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Odisha Police red-handed for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person to settle a case.

The accused ASI has been identified as Judhistir Mallick. He was posted at Binjharpur police station in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

According to reports, Mallick demanded Rs 15,000 bribe to one Baidhar Mallick as to settle a case lodged against latter’s brother.

However, Baidhar brought the matter to the notice of Jajpur Vigilance.

On the basis of Baidhar’s complaints, the vigilance sleuths headed by Jajpur Vigilance DSP Banamali Dhal organised a trap and caught the accused ASI while he was accepting bribe at his resident near Binjharpur petrol pump.

A case has been registered against the ASI at the Vigilance office here.
