Dhenkanal: A man was killed after the bike he was riding on skidded off the road and fell into Rengali canal under Kamakhyanagar Police Station area in the district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Jayakrushna Nath of Alatuma village.
The mishap took place in the morning while Jayakrushna was on his way to a neighbouring village in some work. He lost control over the bike near Rengali left bank canal and veered off the sustaining grievous injury that led to his death.
Body of the deceased was recovered from the water after a fire brigade team from Kamakhyanagar reached the spot and swung into action.
Police have sent the body for postmortem to Kamakhyanagar Medical and registered a case in the incident.
