Bargarh: A young man on Tuesday threw shoes at the BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Kumbhari under Barapali block in the district. However, the shoes did not touch the BJD star campaigner.
The incident occurred while the Patnaik was addressing a meeting at the village to woo the voters in favour of his party candidate Rita Sahu for the Bijepur by-poll, which is scheduled to be held on February 24.
The security personnel immediately overpowered the miscreant and arrested him, while the BJD supremo was taken into safe place. However, the youth’s identity is yet to be ascertained.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
Earlier, the Chief Minister was attacked with eggs by a woman while he was addressing a public meeting at Talsari in Bhograi block of Balasore district on January 31.
