Jajpur: In what can be considered as a big blow to the Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), its candidate has withdrawn nomination ahead of the Panchayat election in Odisha.

The saffron party had made Bhaskar Jena as its Zilla Parishad candidate from Zone No 29 of Jajpur district. However, he met the district collector and withdrew his nomination paper.

Meanwhile, the saffron party claimed that it has not received any clear information about Bhaskar’s nomination withdrawal saying that he is a senior BJP leader of the district and member of the party’s national team.

However, till the filing of this report the exact reason why Bhaskar decided to withdraw his nomination paper, just a day before the publication of the final list of the candidates, is not known.

On the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) claimed that BJP leaders do not have the courage to fight the election against BJD candidates.
