Bhubaneswar Special Squad arrests 5 inter-state looters in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: As many as five inter-state looters have been arrested by Bhubaneswar Special Squad on Thursday. According to reports, more than 40 mobile phones, laptops and several electronic items have been seized from their possession.

Earlier on Wednesday, Khandagiri police had nabbed a mobile phone looting gang of three youths in capital city of Odisha, informed Khandagiri ACP Bharat Chandra Sahoo. He said that the arrested looters were targeting various crowded places like railway station, Unit 1 market especially truck drivers who were coming to Bhubaneswar from outside the city to loot mobiles.

The cops seized 52 mobile phones and a bike from their possession.

Khandagiri ACP has also asked the citizens, whose mobile phones have been stolen at Khandagiri area, to file a complaint at police station. A further investigation into the matter is underway.

Similarly yesterday, four anti social criminals, engaged in the sale and supply of illegal arms and ammunition, had been arrested by Commissionerate Police in Cuttack, informed Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi in a press meet. The accused persons were identified as Magu alias Soumendra Sahoo of Chauliaganj, Kalia alias Sk Sajid Alli, Timina alias Sudarshan Mallick, and Denga Budha alias Badal Kumar Jena of Jagatsinghpur.

The four accused were apprehended while they were engaged in illegal arms and ammunitions trading at Chauliaganj area. They were also involved in the supply and sale of firearms and ammunition to the criminals at Cuttack and other districts.

Police seized one 7.65 mm pistol, three Revolvers, one Single Shot Pistol, 12 live ammunitions, one Bajaj Pulsar 220 motorcycle, Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle, and five mobile phones from their possession, added Commissioner Priyadarshi.
