Bhubaneswar: Rukuna Ratha reaches Ratha Khala at Lingaraj temple

Bhubaneswar: The Rukuna Ratha has returned to the Ratha Khala of Lord Lingaraj temple in the capital city of Odisha on Saturday. Amid Covid backed weekend shutdown and to complete the return journey in one day, the chariot pulling from Mausi Maa temple had begun a little bit ahead of Scheduled time today.

As per reports, pulling of the Rukuna Ratha of Lord Lingaraj began at 1.30 pm on Saturday instead of the scheduled 3.30 pm. As a result the chariot reached at Ratha Khala (chariot yard) of Lingaraj temple at 5.15 pm today. The rituals had been completed one hour ahead of scheduled time.

After reaching of the chariot at Lingaraj temple the idol was taken into the temple in pahandi.

The whole process of ‘Return journey of Rukuna Ratha’ was completed today abiding all Covid restrictions imposed by the government while only servitors of the temple and Police personnel pulled the chariot.

It is to be noted that devotees had been barred from taking part in the Asokastami Rath Yatra as well as return journey of Rukuna Ratha in the wake of Covid pandemic this year.
