Bhubaneswar records 40 degree Celsius, breaks 30-yr record

Bhubaneswar: The capital city of Odisha recorded 40 degree Celsius, six degree Celsius more than the normal temperature, on Sunday. This is the highest temperature in the last 30 years during this time, informed the Regional Meteorological Department.

The daytime temperature in the capital city was 39.7 degree Celsius yesterday.

According to the Bhubaneswar-based MeT office, Angul, Titlagarh and Balangir also witnessed temperature more than 39 degree Celsius today.

As many as 12 other places in the state including Dhenkanal (38.7), Cuttack (37.6), Sambalpur (38.9) and Hirakud (38.3) recorded temperature above 35 degree Celsius forcing people stay indoors.

The weathermen said that a similar trend will continue in the state for the next five days.
