Bargarh: Bhubaneswar Pradhan of Sarala village has been selected to play the role of king ‘Kansa’ in the world famous Dhanu Jatra here on Tuesday.
Pradhan was selected among 27 artistes who took part in the audition that was held earlier today at District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) office.
A five-member special jury selected him to play the role of king ‘Kansa’ during the 11-day grand festival that is based on Krishna Leela and Mathura Vijay.
Bhubaneswar Pradhan had played the role twice earlier.
“I am extremely happy to have got the opportunity after 17 years. I thank the jury for choosing me among 27 participants. Earlier I had played the role twice. However, I will give my hundred percent to play the role successfully,” said Pradhan while speaking to Kalinga TV exclusively.
Dhanu Jatra will be performed between December 23 and January 2.
