Bhubaneswar: The authorities of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) on Monday urged the people living vicinity of the airport to refrain from lighting rocket firecrackers, as they may endanger aircraft operations, during Diwali celebration.
“In the interest of passengers’ safety and safety of aircraft operations, we appeal to one and all, to desist from using any light signals or crackers which go up in the air including Akash Deep to protect the safety of aircraft and passengers within 20 kms from the airport,” a notification issued by BPIA Director Suresh Chandra Hota said.
The notification further said: “It is observed that Akash Deep, Rocket Bombs, laser beams, etc in the vicinity of the airport within 20 kms are being indiscriminately used which may endanger aircraft operations.”
