Bharat Bandh Called Today By BAMCEF, See Details

New Delhi/ Bhubaneswar: India is observing a nationwide strike today, ‘Bharat Bandh’ it has been called by members of the backward and minority communities federation (BAMCEF).

According to reports, the bandh has been received by Waman Meshram, the national convener of Bahujan Kranti Morcha, along with the National Parivartan Morcha, Bharat Mukti Morcha, Bahujan Kranti Morcha and its affiliated organizations.

Here are a few of the demands for the Bandh today:

  1. Caste-based census across the country is the key issue behind the strike. There have already been demands from many states regarding this, but till now the central government has not taken any decision on this.
  2. Some other demands include non-use of EVMs in elections.
  3. Reservation to SC, ST and OBC in the private sector.
  4. MSP guarantee to farmers.
  5. Non-implementation of CAA and NRC and resumption of the Old Pension Scheme.

The capital city of Bhubaneswar is likely to see less impact of the strike. Closure of shops and public transport is expected in states such as Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh may see some disruptions.

Government and private offices and schools are working normally. There is still no change in the functioning of buses, autos, Ola and Uber so far.
