Bhadrak Violence: Properties worth Rs 9 Crore damaged

Properties worth Rs 9 crore were damaged during the recent communal violence in Bhadrak town.

According to the assessment report submitted by Bhadrak Collector Gyana Ranjan Das to the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central, AB Ota on Thursday, properties worth Rs 9 crore were damaged during the violence which had erupted over a derogatory remarks on Hindu goddess on Facebook.

Das, in his report also said that as many as 10 houses and 440 business establishments were vandalized during the unrest.

Meanwhile, the district administration the relaxed the curfew in the town to 14 hours from 6 AM till 8 PM on Thursday in the wake of improvement in the situation.
