Beware! No traffic cops, no checking on roads but hefty fine of Rs 7000 to be imposed if you cross this speed limit now

Bhubaneswar: Habitual traffic violators beware!  Now there will be no traffic cops and no checking on roads but a hefty fine of Rs 7000 will be imposed on you if you cross 50 kmph on the roads of Bhubaneswar City.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and Traffic Violation Detection System (TVDS) have been installed at 13 places of Bhubaneswar.

The Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd (BSCL) has installed the ANPR and ANPR in Patia Square, Power House Square, Kalinga Stadium Square, Capital Hospital Square, KIIT Square, KIIT Campus-3 Square, Sishu Bhawan Square, from Vani Vihar to Sishu Bhawan, Capital Square, Shastri Nagar Square, Rajmahal Square, Trident Hotel Square and Naka Gate Square.

According to reports, ANPR and TVDS will track the number of the vehicle which crosses 50 kmph and the owner will be sent an e-Traffic Challan of Rs 7000 will be sent on the registered contact number. It will be reduced to Rs 2000 if the driver/rider produces his/ her Driving Licence (DL). However, the DL will be suspended for the next three months.

The Driving Licence of an individual will be suspended for the first three offenses but it will be canceled if he/she violates the traffic rule for the fourth time.
