BEd teachers hold ‘Garjan Maha Samavesh’ in the city

Garjan Maha SamaveshBhubaneswar: The School Teachers’ Federation of Odisha (STFO), an umbrella association of several front-line BEd teachers’ associations in the state, held its third ‘Garjan Maha Samavesh’ at the Lower PMG Square in the city today over various demands.

Around 30,000 members of All Odisha Elementary TG Teacher’s Association, Association of Teachers’ recruited in BEd under Zila Parisad (ATRIBUZO) and BEd Sikhya Sahayak Sangha staged a mass rally during the Maha Samavesh and resorted to sloganeering against government’s apathy towards fulfilling their legitimate demands.

Their charter of demands include TGT status for 53,000 BEd teachers in the state, a minimum scale of pay of Rs 9300 along with grade pay Rs 4200 and implementation of a cadre rule. Similarly, the federation is also demanding abolition of Sikhya Sahayak posts and replacement of it with BEd Sikhya Sahayak posts along with inclusion of 6 years of continuous service in job tenure.

The association warned to stage cease work stir and boycott to hold classes if the State government fails to fulfill their charter of demands at the earliest.

Notably the BEd teachers organized a similar Samavesh on two earlier occasions this year and were on a strike for last 40 days in the city.
