BDO abducted from office in Odisha

Balangir: The Block Development Officer (BDO) of Puintala Block in Odisha’s Balangir district was allegedly abducted by a group of miscreants from his office today.

According to reports, Puintala BDO Saroj Mishra was abducted by a group of 4-5 miscreants at around 4.30 pm over some unknown reason.

“As I was getting out of the BDO’s office after finishing my work, four to five youths barged into the office and dragged the BDO out of his office. Later, they forcefully pushed him into a Scorpio vehicle in which they had come and then fled the spot before anyone could identify them,” said Rajiv Lachan Behera, an eyewitness.

“I alerted some staff and locals about the BDO’s abduction following which we went to the local police station and lodged an FIR with the police. Based on our complaint, cops came to the BDO’s office and started an investigation into the matter. They are verifying the CCTV footage,” he added.

Behera further said, “Though exactly I don’t remember the vehicle number I think it is OD 03 5058.”

While the BDO’s abduction has caused panic among the locals, a manhunt has been begun by the police to know the whereabouts of Saroj and the miscreants.
