Bargarh: The district police arrested two more accused in the viral video incident on Monday. The arrested accused persons have been identified as Jitu Behera and Murali Barik.
According to Bargarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Jugal Kishor Kumar Banoth, the accused were arrested from the Paikamal area of the district.
Eight persons have been arrested in the incident so far. Six accused namely Sahil Barik, Nutan Barik, Hotasan Hati, Ajit Barik, Jayaprakash Bhoi and Umakanta were arrested yesterday within 24 hours after the issue was highlighted by Kalinga TV.
All of them were arrested on charges of molesting a college girl in the middle of the road in broad daylight near Khaira Dam in the first week of October this year. The accused molested her while she was hanging out in the area with her male friend. They had filmed the incident and made the video viral on the social network sites.
They accused have been booked under Sections 341, 354, 354(B), 34 of IPC and Sections 66(A), 66(B) and 67 of the Information Technology Act.
The district police took suo motto cognisance of the matter after the video was circulated on social media and registered a case at Paikamal police station.
