Barati bus fined Rs 3.70 lakh for MV Act violation in Odisha

Sundargarh: A bus owner was fined Rs 3.70 lakh for a violation of the Motor Vehicle Act here late on Friday night.

Reportedly, a group of baratis were traveling in the bus, bearing registration number OD-28-A-2526, from Kurdeg in Simdega district of Jharkhand to Bargarh

During an enforcement drive, the vehicle was intercepted by a police squad at Karamdihi under Sadar police limits.

Thereafter, the police officials issued a challan of Rs 3.70 lakh for the violation of Motor Vehicle Act including invalid insurance, fitness, pollution, and road tax documents.

It is pertinent to mention that the Regional Transport Office (RTO) launched an inspection on school buses across Odisha in a drive to ensure children’s safety while going to school.

The special drive began on April 20 and will continue till 27 May. In this drive, the RTO department will check the school bus fitness certificate, permit, insurance, and pollution certificate as well as the license of the driver.

The officials have also begun to inspect the auto, minibus in which the children are being taken to schools.

The Regional Transport Office has instructed to submit the report on April 28 after a long-week inspection.
