Banking and ATM Services to be Restored by May 13: I&PR Dept

Bhubaneswar: The state government is hopeful of restoring banking and ATM services by May 13. This was informed by the Information and Public Relations department today in a media briefing.

Banking and ATM facilities have been badly hit in the cyclone affected districts of Puri, Khordha and Cuttack due to outage of network and electricity.

As per official estimation restoration of banking service has been the slowest in Puri. While 185 banks have resumed service in Puri district out of 222 banks, only 43 ATMs have become functional. Puri district has 275 ATM counters.

Similarly 657 ATMs in Khordha district have started functioning out of 1184 ATMs. In case of Cuttack the total number of functional ATMs are 240 out of 574 ATMs.

“ Resumption of banking services assumes significance for claim of insurance. We are hopeful that the service will be fully restored by May 13. For the time being we have also started service of mobile ATMs in Puri and Khordha districts,” said an official of the state government.
