In July 2022, all banks across India will be closed for a total of 14 days (including weekends). The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has indicated that the bank holidays in July may vary by state and region. Although July has a total of 14 bank holidays, not all branches would observe them as the dates of festivals vary in different states.

The account-holders can continue using online banking and mobile banking for bank-related tasks despite the mentioned bank holidays.

The RBI categorizes bank holidays into three groups:

  • Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act
  • Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday
  • Banks’ Closing of Accounts

In India, banks will be closed on weekends other than the scheduled holidays (every Sunday and second & fourth Saturdays).
