Nabarangpur: A cashier working with Utkal Grameen Bank in Tumberla foiled a snatching bid by showing exemplary courage in the town this afternoon.
As per reports, the cashier identified as Santosh Kumar Mahanta was returning after withdrawing cash of Rs 5 lakh from a nationalised bank.
Mahanta later went to a shop for some work after parking the car. However two snatchers on a motorcycle reached the spot and tried to snatch away the cash bag.
Mahanta fell on the ground but did not leave the bag though he was dragged for few meters. The snatchers later escaped from the spot as locals rushed to help Mahanta.
