Bandh by BJP Yuva Morcha cripples life in Boudh

Boudh: Life came to a standstill across Boudh district today following a bandh call BJP youth wing for the fulfilment of a four-point charter of demand.

The bandh which started at around 6 am in the morning started with BJP Yuva Morcha activists resorting to picketing at Harabhanga, Kantamal, Baunsuni and Purunakatak areas, due to which road traffic was completely disrupted.

While schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the district remained closed during the bandh observation, shops and other business establishments also downed their shutters.

Bandh supporters demanded for immediate transfer of District Collector, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) and District Program Manager (DPM), alleging widespread practice of Percentage Commission (PC) in the recruitment of staff nurses in Boudh recently. They also demanded Vigilance probe into the graft committed in the recruitment of Revenue Inspector (RI), Amin and Junior Clerk recruitment process in the district in 2013 and land allocation to expedite Khordha-Bolangir rail track laying.

Claiming that, only 30 per cent paddy has been procured so far in the district the agitators demanded an immediate withdrawal of government decision to close the ‘Mandis’.

The Yuva Morch activists threatened to continue the strike for an indefinite period if the government fails to fulfil their demands.
