Kendrapara: In yet another attack on ‘khaki’ in the State, at least five policemen sustained injuries after in a mob attack on patrolling van protesting a ban on DJ during Ganesh idol immersion in Aul area of Kendrapara district yesterday.
As per the report, the victim police team had been to Goudapatna area for patrolling last evening when the attack took place. A group of around 40 men hurled stones at the police van and later attacked it with sticks leaving the window glasses shattered.
An ASI including fiver police officials sustained injuries as the broken glasses hit them during the incident. They were immediately rushed to Aul Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.
Notably, earlier yesterday Aul Police had convened a meeting of all puja committees in the area and directed them to not play DJ during Ganesh idol immersion. Some of the puja committees were upset over the directive.
Police have lodged a case in connection with the incident and started an investigation.
