JenaBhubaneswar: For the first time since the conjoined twins of Milipada village in Kandhamal district of Odisha, Jaga and Balia underwent the separation surgery, State Health Minister Pratap Jena today informed that Balia’s improvement is not up to the mark.

While responding to questions of media persons during an event in the state capital Bhubaneswar, Jena said Balia has not showed any new sign of improvement and is still not active.

“As Balia is suffering from regular attacks of epileptic fits, doctors are administering medicines to keep him asleep. The drowsiness state of the child could be the result of that medicine,” he clarified.

However, Jena expressed his satisfaction over the recovery of Jaga and said the child has started playing.

The minister assured that government is taking all possible steps for the proper care of the conjoined twins.

Doctors at the AIIMS are closely monitoring the twins after their second phase surgery on October 25. The marathon surgery lasted around 11 hours and a special team of doctors comprising of 20 surgeons including four Odias took part in it.
