Bhubaneswar: By cracking the two-day-old Balianta murder case, a CCTV footage of which went viral on media, the Commissionerate Police today arrested the prime accused from Phulnakhara area.
The accused has been identified as Mamun Routray.
Yesterday, police had identified the accused on the basis of the CCTV footage in which the accused was seen hiding the weapon of offence.
“We have constituted several squads to nab the accused. Preliminary investigation revealed that both of them had a dispute for months,” said deputy commissioner of police Anup Kumar Sahoo soon after the identification of the accused.
Notably, the victim Pritam Routray (41), who happens to be the younger brother of the accused was hacked to death by him in the afternoon on June 7 over a monetary dispute in broad daylight. Later the accused dumped the body at an under-construction septic tank near Surekha Apartment in Balianta.
