Balasore: 2 minor girls drown in pond

Balasore: In a tragic incident, two minor girls drowned while taking bath in a pond at Bagchara village under Basta police station limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday.

The deceased girls have been identified as Barsha Pramanik, daughter of Anukul Pramanik of the village, and her friend Mama Jena. Both were six-year-old.

Mama, a resident of Alumeda village under Singala police limits in the district, had visited her uncle’s house in Bagchara village during the summer vacation.

According to reports, both the girls had gone to the nearby pond to take bath. However, they fell into deep water and drowned.

The minor girls were immediately rescued by the family members and rushed to the District Headquarter Hospital here but doctors declared them brought dead.

A pall of gloom has descended upon the villagers after the sad demise of two girls.
