cotton trader murderBalangir: Cracking the two-month old cotton trader murder case of Larki village under Turekela Police Station area in the district police arrested the accused today.

The accused has been identified as Mukesh Chhatria of Maniguda village under Komana police limits.

Informing on the arrest at a press conference here, Kantabanji SDPO Prafulla Kumar Mishra said the accused had brutally murdered Kedar Meher on the day of the incident with a motive to loot money from him. The accused has confessed to the crime during his quizzing, he added.

“Police seized the bike, mobile phone and a sum of Rs 3,000 looted from the victim were seized from the accused. The main motive behind the murder was loot”, said the SDPO.

Notably, Kedar who ran a cotton business in Larki village went missing in the month of September. Police recovered his decomposed body from the Thengajuri forest on the outskirts of Mahakhand village under Turekela Police Station area on September 13, after family members lodged a missing person case.
