Balangir boils at 44 degree Celsius as mercury soars to or above 40 degrees Celsius in 27 places in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Balangir boiled at 44 degree Celsius as the mercury soared to or above 40 degrees Celsius in 27 places in Odisha on Monday, informed India Meteorological Department’s regional centre here today.

While the highest day temperature of Odisha was recorded in Balangir as it witnessed 44 degree Celsius today. The second highest day temperature was recorded in Titilagarh (43.8 degrees) followed by Angul (43.7 degrees Celcius).

Mercury also crossed the 43-degree Celsius mark in Sonepur (43.4 degrees) Talcher (43.0 degrees) and Sambalpur (43.0 degrees).

Likewise, the maximum daytime temperature at Bargarh, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore, and Khurda was – 42.0, 40.8, 40.2, 39.0, and 42.0 degrees Celcius respectively.
