Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, the body of a baby girl was found at a farmland in Khalikhama area under Mancheswar police limits here today.
According to reports, some locals spotted the body of the girl child, aged about 3 and informed the Mancheswar police.
While the reason behind the death of the baby is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that she was killed for the purpose of human sacrifice as the body bore grievous injuries on face and neck.
Mancheswar police conducted a preliminary enquiry into the matter after reaching the spot. It sent the mortal remains of the baby to the hospital for post-mortem. However, they are yet to identify the deceased child.
Mancheswar police also has registered a case of unnatural death over the matter.
