Auto-rickshaw Fined Rs 47500 In Odisha Capital After Changes In MV Act

Bhubaneswar: Days after the amended Motor Vehicles Act came into force an autorickshaw driver was fined a hefty Rs 47500 for driving under the influence of alcohol and also for not carrying important documents in the state capital.

The challan by the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Bhubaneswar I against the violators-owner of the vehicle (OR02AQ-2243) Kanduri Khatua, a resident of Nayagarh and driver Haribandhu Kanhar of Badagad area in Bhubaneswar.

The penalty included Rs 500 for general offence, Rs 5,000 for having invalid driving license (DL), Rs 10,000 for violating permit conditions, Rs 10,000 for drunken driving, Rs 10,000 for violating air/noise pollution, Rs 5,000 for allowing an unauthorised person to drive vehicle, Rs 5000 for using the vehicle without registration and fitness certificate and Rs 2,000 for plying the vehicle without insurance.

RTO officials said that the autorickshaw has been seized after the drive expressed inability to pay the penalty.
