Attack on govt officials in Odisha: Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu appears before police

Baripada: Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti Bishweswar Tudu on Friday appeared before Mayurbhanj district police in connection with a case filed against him for reportedly attacking two Odisha Government officials in the district in January.

According to reports, the Union Minister who is also Mayurbhanj MP appeared before Baripada Town police as per the orders of Orissa High Court.

It is to be noted here that a case was filed against Tudu at the Baripada Town Police Station for attacking Mayurbhanj District Planning Board Deputy Director Aswini Mallick and Assistant Director Debasish Mohapatra with a plastic chair on January 21.

The incident was heavily protested by the government employees who also demanded action against the Union Minister. While the police have started an investigation, he had filed for an anticipatory bail application in the Orissa High Court.
