ATM loot attempt foiled in Balasore, 2 held

Balasore: In yet another failed ATM loot attempt, police arrested at least two looters while they were trying to steal cash from a teller machine in Sahadevkhunta area in the district last night.

The accused have been identified as Mithun Singh of Murshidabad and Sudeb Roy of Dinajpur areas in neighbouring West Bengal State.

As per the report, the accused duo entered into the State Bank of India (SBI) ATM unit located in Sahadevkhunta area by impersonating as engineers and tried to open the cash tray of the teller machine. However, due to a security system installed at the ATM unit the Central Database of the bank got information on the loot attempt and alerted Sahadevkhunta Police.

Acting upon the intimation, a police team led by IIC Jayant Kumar Behera nabbed the looters reaching the spot immediately.

Police seized several tools used in ATM loot along with a number of flight tickets from the possession of the accused during the raid.

An investigation is underway in the case.
