Nayagarh: Govinda Chandra Sahoo, the Assistant Executive Engineer of Rural Works Sub-Division in Nayagarh was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance in Cuttack.
According to reports, Sahoo was arrested for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs 2,59,55,139 which he could not account for satisfactorily. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.21 dt.31.03.2022 was registered against him and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.
On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sahoo simultaneous house searches were conducted yesterday at 5 places in Cuttack, Khurda and Nayagarh district by 5 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 5 DSPs, 5 Inspectors, 3 ASIs and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
After a thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of the Assistant Executive Engineer were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets to the tune Vigilance Directorate Odisha of Rs 2,59,55,139 which constituted 371% of his known sources of income.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
