Assistant Engineer Pramoth Kumar Behuria arrested in DA case

Bhubaneswar: Pramoth Kumar Behuria, Assistant Engineer, RW Section, Soro, RW Division-II, Balasore was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Balasore on Friday.

Behuria was arrested for possessing disproportionate assets worth Rs.2,45,27,563, which he could not account for satisfactorily. In this connection, Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.3 dt.18.03.2022 was registered against him and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.

On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Behuria, simultaneous house searches were conducted yesterday at 5 places in Bhadraak and Balasore district by 5 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 1 Addl. SP, 4 DSPs, 4 Inspectors and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore.

During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets were unearthed in the name of Behuria and his family members;

1) Cash Rs.1,83,416/-.

2) Bank and Insurance deposits worth over Rs.46.75 Lakhs. VIGILANCE DIRECTORATE ODISHA, CUTTACK.

3) One double storeyed building at Bagurai of Bhadrak town.

4) Another double storeyed building in same campus at Bagurai of Bhadrak town. The worth of the above two buildings is about Rs.70 Lakhs.

5) One Market complex comprising 4 rooms at Arnapal, Dist-Bhadrak worth Rs.16 Lakhs.

6) Gold recovered from locker in Syndicate Bank, Bhadrak and his house weighing approx 500 gms and silver 1 Kg worth over Rs.17.66 Lakhs.

7) 16 plots including 3 plots in Bhubaneswar, Khordha and 13 plots in Bhadrak as per details below:

After a thorough search, inventory and further inquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Pramoth Kumar Behuria were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 2,45,27,563, which constituted 358% of his known sources of income.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
