ASHA workers gherao Balasore Collector’s office

Balasore: Hundreds of Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers accompanied by members of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh gheraoed the Balasore district Collector’s office demanding fulfillment of various demands.

The striking ASHA workers reached the Collectors office this morning led by Odisha State ASHA Workers’ Association president Kalpana Dash and Mazdoor Sangh State Vice-President Prithwiraj Panda and put up the gherao. They submitted a 12-point charter of demand to the Collector, addressing to the Prime Minister of India.

The demands of ASHA workers include the longstanding pay hike to Rs 15000 along with their inclusion under PF, ESI and Pension Schemes. They are also demanding a life insurance of Rs 2 lakh in case of untimely death and an equal amount of accidental insurance.
