Around 150 houses gutted in major fire in Odisha

Bhanjanagar: More than 150 houses were gutted in a major fire in Mayangi village under Bhanjanagar tehsil in Ganjam district this afternoon.

Sources said a fire broke out in one house and suddenly spread to other houses within in no time. Each and every villager tried their best to douse the blaze. However, they could not.

On being informed, two fire brigades from Surada and Dharakote rushed to the spot. By the time the fire fighters reached the village everything including household goods, paddy and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes.

The fire also left more than 50 families homeless. Local police and local administration are on the spot to ascertain the cause of the fire.
